If you last visited when the market was on the grounds of Bienvenue, you're looking for the wrong driveway.
The new spot is Fighting Creek Park at 2200 Mann Road, across from the athletic fields in the playground trailhead parking lot. It matters that this is a park setting and not a lawn: the pavilion, playground, pollinator garden, and trails mean you can bring kids who won't sit still for a produce run, and the shaded parking lot handles a rainy Thursday better than open grass ever did.
What you'll find on the tables is close to what you'd expect from a grower's market of this scale. The Powhatan Village Farmers Market is a boutique market featuring farm fresh seasonal produce, grass fed poultry, beef, pork and lamb, fruits and berries, honey, baked goods and select artisan crafts, with weekly food trucks and live music, so you can grab dinner and stock up for the week on fresh local products. The market runs every Thursday through September 24, 2026, which gives you roughly eight more Thursdays if you're reading this in mid-July.

That's more than a promotional line. It's a signal that Parks and Rec is treating Thursdays as the county's default weeknight gathering point, which is why the other August dates below all seem to route back through this same address or one nearby.
The Friday That Closes the Season
The Village Movies in the Park series ends this August with a screening built for the way this county actually watches movies. Village Movies in the Park wraps up with a tropical twist. The screening is Lilo & Stitch on Friday, August 28th at the Turner Park multi-purpose field. If you've never done a County Seat weekend, the practical advice is the same as it's been for years: parties of 30-300 are welcome, and large groups should call for reservations at 804-598-5000. Show up without a booking on a band Saturday in August and you'll be eating late.
A Wednesday Lunch Worth Blocking
The single most underrated date on the August calendar is a lunch, not a dinner. Double D's BBQ is coming to the Village of Powhatan on Wednesday, August 12th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Their food truck will be parked outside of the County Administration Building at 3834 Old Buckingham Road, and the event is open to both county employees and the general public.
Two things make this worth flagging. First, it's a food truck the county specifically invited, which is a light form of endorsement in a place where most restaurant word-of-mouth still runs through neighbors rather than reviews. Second, it puts you at the same address you'll be at two weeks later for Lilo & Stitch, which is exactly the point of writing this out as a loop.
What's Already on the Fall Ledger
August is also when the fall calendar starts to fill in, and a few dates are already firm enough to plan around:
- Sept 24 — the final Powhatan Village Farmers Market of the 2026 season at Fighting Creek Park
- Oct 3 — Wine Festival through the Village, one of the largest single-day draws to the courthouse area all year

The fairgrounds has been a gathering place since 1917, and the Trunk-O-Treat and lights festivals lean more on that neighborly character than the ride-and-carnival energy of May.
